Appearance: The Chussel may have more of the physical characteristics of the Brussels Griffon looking like a Brussels Griffon with the coloring of the Black and Brown Chihuahua, light colored fur around the eyes that makes them look like they are wearing glasses, bushy eyebrows, big, sweet brown or black expressive eyes, a flat nose and a cute little beard.

Life Expectancy: The average life expectancy of the Chussel is 16 or more years.

Characteristics: The Chussel is a little dog with a very big heart. Like other small dogs, Chussels believe they are the biggest dog on the block and can be territorial and very protective of their owners. They have many Terrier-like characteristics. They can be willful, persistent and occasionally hyper-active. They love to dig. Chussels are great fun to watch as they have clown-like actions, lots of enthusiasm, and such a huge appetite for life.

Personality: The Chussel is a wonderful little dog that seems to have inherited the best characteristics of Chihuahua and Brussels Griffon. They are very affectionate and intelligent with human-like expressions. They can be manipulative at times, but are very adorable to be around.

Temperament: The Chussel can be very cautious and reserved with strangers, which can be difficult because they're so darned cute that everywhere you go with him/her you'll have people wanting to hold or pet them.

Family Dog: The Chussel makes a great family dog.

Companionship: Chussels are extremely loving, "velcro" dogs. They don't want you out of their sight and if you're sitting down, they will be in your lap.

Eyes: The Chussel has large, round and expressive eyes.

Ears: The Chussel has rose ears that are either folded or pricked.

Muzzle: The muzzle of the Chussel is well proportioned, not pushed in or brachycephalic.

 

Teeth/Bite: The Chussel may have a slightly undershot jaw.

Body: The Chussel has a very sturdy and muscular body with an overall square appearance.

Gait: The gait of the Chussel has smooth forward motion.

Coat: The coat of the Chussel is dense and somewhat wiry with lots of fringe on legs and ears.

Grooming: The Chussel can be left natural which requires a minimal amount of grooming.

Behavior: The Chussel is a very smart dog who loves everyone he meets.

Barking: Some Chussels do have the tendency to bark and be vocal while others do not bark much at all.

Feeding: The Chussel has a good appetite and loves food. They tend to have a sensitive stomach which causes diarrhea whenever they eat unusual food, table scraps or become stressed or upset.

Exercise: The Chussel needs a moderate amount of exercise each day.

Physical Ability: The Chussel is a very sturdy dog which is good because they are very agile and are excellent climbers.

 

Litter Size: The average litter size of the Chussel is 2 to 4 pups.
