Bassetoodles require little grooming. The coat is kept in the tousled look, requiring weekly brushing. Trimming around anus and eyes is needed. Bassetoodles are kept with the longer eyebrows and whiskers and the coat remains long.

Bassetoodles are very intelligent and quite easy to train. They do well with obedience training and agility or hunting.

Barking: |
Bassetoodles use their voices to let owners know of visitors or intruders. They can become barky if provoked by other dogs or left alone. Simple training will eliminate any issues.

Feeding: |
Care should be taken to not overfeed the Bassetoodle in order to keep them at a slender weight. Bassetoodles need daily exercise and to keep weight down.

Weather: |
Bassetoodles are a hearty dog that will do well in warm and cold weather, although it is not advised leaving any dog alone outdoors all day.

Allergies: |
Bassetoodles have a low to non-shedding coat. They shed much less than the purebred Basset Hound. Many families do well with the coat, but it is always recommended to expose yourself to the dog first if you are an allergy sufferer.

Bassetoodles require daily walks.

Living Arrangements: |
Bassetoodles require a fenced yard, as they can roam or follow scents. They are great with people of all ages, and gentle chidren.

As the Bassetoodle is a long bodied dog, special care must be taken of their backs. Young children must be careful not to jump or ride on the backs of Bassetoodles.
