Appearance:	The Comfort Retriever^® is a Golden Retriever x Poodle cross selectively bred to look like a small Golden Retriever. At this time there is no defined percentage of Golden Retriever x Poodle to produce the Comfort Retriever^®.
Size:	The Comfort Retriever^® weighs between 18 to 40 pounds when fully grown.
Temperament:	Comfort Retrievers^® are very mild mannered and polite dogs that generally get along well with other people and dogs.
Shedding:	The Comfort Retriever^® does have some hypoallergenic and reduced shedding traits but due to their high percentage of Golden Retriever and small percentage of Poodle they are not recommended for allergy sufferers.
Training:	Comfort Retrievers^® are intelligent dog who are eager to please and can learn new commands relatively quickly.
History:	Over the years it has been found that many people would like to have a Golden Retriever but they found the breed a bit too big for their taste. This is why the Comfort Retriever^® was created, as a hybrid that looked and acted like the Golden Retriever but was smaller and more comfortable in size. This hybrid was first bred after many years of vision of creating a dog that looked like a miniature, toy or petite Golden Retriever. Originally the Cocker Spaniels was used to produce the Comfort Retriever^® but it was determined that the pups didn't have the look of a Golden Retriever due to their oversized ears. It was also determined that despite using a Cocker Spaniel with excellent temperament the pups still had unreliable temperaments. With Cocker Spaniels also being high on the breed list for dog bites it was decided that the breeding program for the Comfort Retriever^® should be started over. The newly bred Comfort Retrievers^® now have no Cocker Spaniel in them at all. In fact they are being selectively bred by crossing a miniature Goldendoodle with a mostly Golden Retriever appearance to a very petite Golden Retriever giving them not only great temperament and small size but some hypoallergenic and decreased shedding traits. Technically this hybrid could be called Goldendoodles but they are so selectively bred and look much different than the traditional Goldendoodle. The term Comfort Retriever^® is also still being used by some breeders who are still breeding the Golden Retrievers to the Cocker Spaniels and many other mixes but these breeders are incorrectly labeling their pups. The breeding program using Cocker Spaniels was discontinued and currently Comfort Retrievers^® have no cocker spaniel in them. Please ask the breeders what breeds were used to create the Comfort Retriever^® you are considering purchasing to be sure your dog is a 'true' Comfort Retriever^®. This hybrid was the first, original mini golden retriever. The term Comfort Retriever^® has been Trademarked to protect the hybrid and only the creator of the hybrid has the legal right to use this term. The Comfort Retriever^® applies to Golden Retriever x Poodle crosses that have been selectively bred to look like a small Golden Retriever.
