Size: The Native American Shepherd ranges in weight from 45 to 85 pounds.

Characteristics: The Native American Shephers has no doggy odor and about half of the pups in a litter will have the ability to herd livestock. The rest of the litter will be great ball or frisbee retreivers, great swimmers, therapy dogs, Search & Rescue dogs, able to carry a back pack, pull a load on a sled or just be your all around best friend and companion.

Companionship: The Native American Shepherd is a happy-go-lucky dog who is always hunting for someone to pet or love on them.

Color: The coat color of the Native American Shepherd varies, as the Native American Indian Dog can come in all coat colors including bridle or spotted with 3 distinct hair coat lengths. The Belgium Sheepdog, is a long hair coated dog in you basic black, with a slight mixture of white on the paws or a white spot on the chest.

Coat: Some Native American Shepherds have a soft, glistening coat while some have the shorter denser two layered coat.

Shedding: The Native American Shepherd is considered to be hypoallergenic and sheds only once yearly.

Grooming: The Native American Shepherd requires light brushing about twice annually and bathing is not a requirement for this delighful hybrid.

Barking: The Native American Shepherd will bark slightly just to let you know someone or something is poking around your property.

Weather: The Native American Shepherd does wonderfully in any climate from hot, humid conditions to bone chilling cold.
