Living with a Chi-Chon

Personality: Chi-Chons are happy, quiet and easy-going dogs. They can be vocal when they want your attention.

Family Dog: Chi-Chons are a good and loyal companion. Most are great with children but they should be supervised when around them. They are easy-going, gentle dogs who are not fearful and are sturdier than a Chihuahua.

Shedding: Chi-Chons with fluffy coat, like the Bichon should no shed. Chi-Chons with s coarser broken coat, like the Chihuahua may shed some.

Grooming: The coat of the Chi-Chon needs regular grooming and does not mat as easy as a Bichon's. They may have a coat similar to a broken coated Chihuahua which can shed more but should not require regular or constant trimming.

Behavior: Chi-Chons are extremely friendly and easy-going dogs. They can take longer to housebreak, as do some Bichons and Chihuahuas.

Barking: Chi-Chons are not known for barking, but do bark during play or for attention. When a Chi-Chon has more Chihuahua like traits they will typically bark at unfamiliar people and dogs.

Exercise: The Chi-Chon is an extremely energetic dog. They need plenty of exercise time, They love open fields, running around freely and playing fetch.

Physical Ability: Chi-Chons are athletic dogs who love to run and jump. They can be superb escape artists and climbers.

Living Conditions: Chi-Chons need to be with people. A regularly scheduled daily walk, exercise period or other physical stimulation is needed.

Chi-Chon Appearance

Appearance: Chi-Chons are extremely adroable dogs that have the appearance of a stuffed animal. They are small dogs that typically have a long, fluffy, curly Bichon Frise coat; however some have more of the Chihuahua look and have a shorter, less curly, wire-like coat.

Size: Chi-Chons will be around 8 pounds when fully grown. They should not exceed 10 pounds.

Companionship: Some Chi-Chons have the Chihuahua characteristic of becoming attached to one person, typically their owner. They will tolerate other people as long as they know thier owner likes them. They are very cautious around strangers.

Body: The body of a Chi-Chon is slightly longer than their legs. They commonly have a body that resembles that of the Chihuahua but much stronger and less fraile than the Chihuahua.

Color: Chi-Chons coats may be solid white or any coat color associated with the Chihuahua.

Coat: Some Chi-Chons have a soft, fluffy coat while other have a more wiry coat.

Chi-Chon Facts

Characteristics: Chi-Chons are sweet-natured, outgoing, friendly dogs. They love people and other dogs. They have a tendency to be fearless and be possesive of toys towards other dogs like the Chihuahua.

Chi-Chon Health

Allergies: The Chi-Chon has no know allergies as of yet.

Health: Chi-Chons are sensitive to vaccines and care should be taken to not over vaccinate them.

Dental Health: As with all dogs, Chi-Chons teeth should be brushed regularly. Chi-Chons love to chew on bones which should help with their dental health.
