Why Should I Buy A Poodle Mix?Posted: 12/16/2007 Lately, there has been a huge explosion in the mixing of purebred dogs to create what are being deemed ‘Designer Dogs’. There has also been a huge controversy over these Designer Dogs, is it right? One of the hopes in mixing two different breeds is that this will diminish the chances of the offspring having the known genetic health issues associated with the purebred parents. While Designer Dogs will still have some risk for these purebred genetic issues of both parents, some risks can be diminished because of the mixing of the gene pool. Poodle Mixes are among the most popular Designer Dogs being bred lately. Two of the main reasons people are interested in Poodle Mixes is because of the superior intelligence and low shedding traits of the poodle. These two characteristics usually give way to an easily trainable dog without all of the hair to clean up. These are the main reasons why my husband and I chose a poodle mix for our first dog. We choose a chipoo and have not been a bit disappointed. We have two of them now. They are the most energetic, fun-loving, loyal companions any one could ever ask for. When choosing a mixed breed dog it is important to research the traits associated with the two parent breeds as the traits of most mixed breed dogs are not well documented as of yet. This is something we hope to do on our site. By having actual owners of these dogs submit information, we hope to compile a complete and accurate listing of the traits of these dogs as reference for current and future owners. |
