I am interested in how they turned out. How big did they get and what was their disposition etc. I find it difficult to find out much -about this breed on the net. I have a maspyr that was born 7-24-09 and I have graphed his age vs weight in comparison with a couple of full blood english mastiffs so as to maybe record some information that has been difficult for me to gain.

Thanks and I look forward to hearing from anyone.

Daily adventures...

This is the story of my life. My dog is the most retarded and ridiculous creature ever put on the planet. Im almost positive that at some point he was dropped on his head or used in some failed medical experiment. He will not leave my side and it's so annoying to be followed around by a 100 lb slobbering, clumsy, hair ball that thinks the only way to walk is to do figure eights in between my legs as Im walking. I smile so big when I see him though that all the chewed remotes, headphones, hair covered comforters and ticks pulled off him are worth it.

Schneagles

Our dog is intelligent , playful and inquisitive she obeys commands most of the time. She does like to bark at anything she thinks is invasive to the yard. She absolutely loves to track with her nose to the ground when walking on the leash, she does get distracted easily by smells she is tracking, but is easily re-focused . If let off leash she can outrun very quickly, and loves the chase. Cookie is a good example of this breed with great temperment and is outright fun for our family to have around <3

English Mastweiler

I have had alot of different breeds of dogs. Some mixed breeds some purebreds. But I have got to comment on the English mastweiler this is the most amazing dog. He is very smart and very well behaved. He plays with my toddler grandchildren and has yet to knock anyone down. It is like he knows he has to be gentle. His best buddies are my chi Javi and our Lassa Teddy. They play and play even now as a 4 month old puppy he understands that he has to use a gentle mouth. And these boys play in fact I sometimes have to tell them to take it outside. Hunter is going to start obedience training on Monday. He should do really good as he already sits stays and lies down and stay. He also comes when he is called even if he is outside. At 4 months old he already weighs 50lbs and still has not grown into his feet. He is going every day. He has been so much fun. My husband is even taking his picture to work to show his co workers. I do not think he has ever taken one of our kids pictures to work. So you can see how Hunter rates at our house.

Logan's Fourth Play Group

On Sunday we took Logan to his fourth play group. When we pulled up the other play group was just finishing up so we waited in the car. He saw the other dogs and was very good. I sat in the backseat with him and gave him treats when he looked at the other dogs without reacting.

When we got out of the car he was over-excited and barking as usual. We got into the yard and went to our corner to work on calming him down. He is definitely calming down quicker each time which is great. He did really good with most of the dog but there was one Buddy (a Puggle, who he continually wanted to run, lunge and bark at. The trainer thought this was because Buddy was running around a lot and was very active. The other dogs were active at times as well just not quite as much. By the end he was relatively close to Buddy without reacting a few times so that was great. He starts a Shy & Fearful class on Thursday. I am hoping this will help!

Swollen Nose & upper lip

I was so terrified last night that I almost cried.
Bentley was playing outside the entire day & at around 17:00 when I went to bring him in I got a shock.
Around his nose & upper lip had swelled to about 6 times the normal size. It looked so painful & scary.
& as being a Sunday I didn't know what to do because every vet or clinic was closed
It was so bad that it totally covered his lower mouth. His nose was completely extended forward , far past his lower mouth.
His eyes were closing slowly & then opening again whilst he was standing, he never did that before.
I gave him plenty of water & made a treat soft meaty meal for him as I was afraid his nose would get hurt trying to east his chunks.
I was so terrified I just held him in his blankly & monitored his heart beat.
I quickly googled it & checked that it has happened to dogs before & owners say that it could have possibly been an insect bite or spider bite.
I barley slept, I heard him howling in his room this morning. I fed him & let him out again.
When I left him this morning he seemed to be jumping & back to his adorable active self again.
His eyes were clearing up & the swelling was almost gone. I was so relieved. I didn't want to leave him today but I had to be at work.
I played with him allot this morning & he seemed much more active than last night. It was just such a shock to have seen that, it looked like out of this world.
I am just glad that he is O.K. & I pray that this doesn't happen again
lola

Lola is a fun and energetic dog. Yet I have been having some difficulty getting my Lucky to walk past a certain ghost that is place in my neighbors yard. He looks at it with unsureness and walks low to the ground and slowly pasted it never taking its eyes of the decoration. Yet I want him to get used to the ghost because it is on way when we walk. and I find it funny that he is not afraid of any of the other things on anyone's else yard with in my personal opinion are more scary. We have walked by it all week and he is still overly cautious when walking past it. Well at least it is almost Halloween and the ghost won't be there for much longer.

Oh Sheta!

She's going on nine months old now. She's still a baby. But I tell her she's a big girl. Yea, right. Ok, she's big in stature. Big in size. She has big feet. I mean paws. A big mouth. And I do mean what you think I mean. Sheta lets me know what she wants, what she is thinking, whether she does it quietly, softly or loudly. She is some kind of dog!
When I thought to myself that I would enhance my life with a Sheprador, never did I imagine how my life would become enhanced. Sheta is undoubtedly super-intelligent, that goes hand-in-hand with her breeding. Let's face it. Half Australian Shepherd and half Lab makes for one heck of a smart cookie. I love having conversations with her! She turns her head this way and that, her eyes twinkle at me, her ears perk up and she sits and listens. Who knows if she understands? I know she comprehends my tone of voice. That's what is really important.
She has become my constant companion, never leaving my side. Sometimes, I must shut my bedroom door for privacy...lol. And I explain to her that she must guard the house. That is her job. It is an important job. Believe me, she takes it quite seriously. She is an excellent watchdog. She notifies me immediately if she hears anything at all. She will only keep barking if the noises she hears are foreign to her and do not stop. That is what you want in a good guard dog.
She is loving, strong-willed, affectionate, cunning, assertive, intelligent, playful, fun, stubborn, funny...the list could go on. She's not a dog for everyone. She's not a dog for the meek at heart. But Sheta...oh Sheta...you're a dog for me!

Logan's Third Play Group

On Saturday we took Logan and Lacey to their play group. Logan was very excited as normal. I took him into our little corner of the yard to work on calming him down. He seemed to get calmer a little quicker this time which is great! He remained on leash the entire play group this time. We walked around watching the other dogs and saying 'hi' to one every so often. He did pretty well with most of them. There was one little Bulldog mix that he wasn't too fond of. He lunged toward her everytime we walked by her. She seemed a little afraid of him, not that I blame her...

Other than her by the middle of the play group he seemed fairly comfortable with the other dogs. By the end he was even standing next to the Bulldog mix without reacting. So all in all it was a pretty good time. Hopefully a few more and he can be off leash and play a little. I think that is what he wants to do he is just not sure how to control his emotions yet. He gets overly excited and then reacts to the other dogs.

Potty Traiing

She is very difficult. Hair around her eyes possibly makes the problem worse and certainly spoils her vision. The obvious answer is clip the hair. Easier said than done. When the scissors came into view, my little Boo vigourously tried to escape from my embrace and I feared she might twist or jerk onto them, although I use blunt-nosed ones. Recently I met the owners of a couple of similar designer dogs, Shih Tzu/Jack Russells. I mentioned this problem and they gave me a recommendation which seems ridiculous - put the dog up on an ironing board at its highest level. I was very sceptical, but it does work. At first Boo started to struggle as usual, then within a couple of minutes, allowed me to clear the hair from around her eyes and I can now do it regularly. I assume what is happening, that when Boo moves, the iron board tends to wobble a bit and she realises that she must stay still.

Mr. April - Calendar Boy

We are so excited that Mochi has been selected for the DesignerMixes.org 2010 calendar! Now that summer is winding down, I find myself wondering what Im going to do with Lady. She LOVES it outside but the last couple of nights it has been really cold and though my little Lady is shivering, she will not come in. The vet told me that she needed to stay indoors because she is small and loses a lot of heat very quickly so Im worried that she will stay outside to long. There were a lot more dogs at this one. We let him off leash at first like the trainer said to but that didn't last long. He kept running up to all the dogs and barking/lunging toward them. I got him back on leash an took him off to the corner of the yard and calm him down. I had to do this many times at first.

He eventually calmed down enough we could walk around the other dogs and he was fine for the most part until one of them came up to him. Depending on the dog he would bark/lunge toward them or be just fine. I worked with him for the entire hour making sure to let him know he was doing good everytime he looked at another dog without reacting. By the end he was a lot better. I am going to try this again at the next play group and maybe someday my sweet little boy will be sweet to other dogs :)

cojack

Both of my lil babies(cojack puppies) like to eat and chew anything insite even the floor I have tried the toys and chew ropes. Up until then only Lacey had been going because Logan's behavior around other dogs had been a bit unpredictable. He is a very stressed little boy and somedays are better than others. Yesterday was a good day! After seeing that there were only a few dogs on the list to be there I decided it was Logan's turn to try one out. My husband and I packed them up and headed out. I figured it is outside in a yard in a nice neighborhood and if he didn't do well I could just take him for a walk.

We pulled up and he saw the other dog that was already there and started barking. My husband got Lacey out to take her in while I unhooked Logan's harness (ooooppppsss) and opened my door to get out. He was in the back driver's side seat and I was in the front passenger's seat. I was going to go sit in the back with him and try to calm him down a bit but as soon as I started to open my door he lept from the back out of the car and was up to the fence in about 3 seconds. I got him and put his leash on and went back to shut the car door. I let him meet the other dog through the fence and besides seeming very excited he did good. We went in. I left him on the leash for a few minutes to see how he would react. He was really pretty good (at least for him). Then another dog showed up and he of course went back to his barking ways. He got to say 'hi' and settled down a little. I let him off leash and hoped for the best :)

He ran up to the other dogs (there was only 2 besides Lacey) and sniffed them. Then he was fine. A couple of times he had to bark like crazy at one of the dogs but he ususally does that when he plays with Lacey so I think he was trying to get her to play. They ran a little but she wasn't real sure about his barking. The trainer thinks they will be friends next time and play some. HOPEFULLY!!!

Overall it was a great time to see him calm down around other dogs and actually show interest in playing with them. Not too many months ago I don't think he would have done that.

Jasper, the Angel Beast

Adopted June 7,2003 at the age of 7 years.

Beautiful Boy, Pup Pup Angel, Jasper was given back to the Lord on Saturday, September 19, 2009. Heartbroken does not even begin to describe how I feel. He was my little man, my companion, My love. He brought trust, love, and nurturing to my life when I needed it the most, and for him to be ripped from my family so brutally is wrong on levels I can not begin to define. I am a dog lover and I am trying hard to not hold the breed accountable, to not HATE this breed, but the owners who neglected to raise and train this dog responsibley.
