Hi, My name is Holly and I recently got a new puppy, his name is Thor and he is an 8 week old ChiPoo! I love him, he is amazing. I just wanted to introduce myself, because I'm probably going to be on here a lot.

I am not sure what my dog is mixed with can you help?

We found a stray dog 2 months ago and believe she is Labrador. The vet said yes, however as she is getting older her features are changing and I am guessing she may be mixed. The vet stated she believed, at the time, she was only 8 months old. I posted a recent photo to my page. Here is a link to her photo as well. What do you think she maybe mixed with. I just want to see if you all say the very breed I think it might be. She is (best guess) 10 months old now and a bundle of fun. Thank you :o)

I just wanted to stop in and introduce us. I'm Amanda, and my Chiweenie is Bella. We live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Bella is two years old and I've had her almost a year. I've been a much happier person with this little dog in my life.

Hello from Canada - Mom of Chug and Lhatese

Hi everyone, my name is Linda and I have had my chug (mixed pug/chihuahua) Romeo since July 2008 (he is 16 months old now) and just recently adopted a lhatese (mixed lhasa-apso maltese) named Charlie who is 10 months old. The two are getting along very well so far. My challenge with Charlie is he loves to yap lol and doesn't like to be crated very much, but he is getting better. He was not neutered when I adopted him, so that's on the "to do" list.

I'm anxious to look through the discussion forum!

Hello,
I am a new member. I stumbled upon this site while trying to find pictures of the cockinese mix breed, which is a pekignese/cockerspaniel mix. I have one named Buddy. He is six months old. He is my very first dog of my own, and I love him to death. He is my little baby. Buddy is such a sweet little man. He loves to cuddle. I am so happy I got him. He is a little afraid of strangers, especially little kids. Now he loves my five year old daugther, but not any other kids. I am not sure how to break him of this. I have had him around people since he was six weeks old. Anyways all is that one day I hope to become as great of a person as Buddy thinks I am.

Reply: Hi mili5726, It could be the shrill sound of the little children's voices. Dogs have very sensitive hearing and maybe you could caution them to speak softly when around him as well as giving treats. I too, am new to this site. I've really enjoyed it so far. and Good luck to you too!

Cherry Eye

My Cockinese puppy has cherry eye. Can anyone give me any advice on it. I was thinking about getting it removed but heard it can cause problems with dry eye when my dog is older, but I also heard the tear duct that is exposed is only responsible for 30% tear production, so will it really be much of a problem.

New Chiweenie Mommy

I'm new to all this and am getting a chiweenie puppy when they turn of age, can anyone that has them give me some advice or let me know how there's is about barking? I live in a rented house and DON"T want a barker, plus we have cats and I would love to know if anyone else has cats how there chiweenie did with them. Thank you.

Reply: I know this topic is old, but in case anyone else is wandering...

The cats shouldn't be a problem as long as you teach the dogs 'no means NO', preferably as young as possible.

One of my Chiweenies did chase occassionally, but it wasn't much of a problem.
A problem he did have is one day, out of the blue, he killed an Easter duck. The duck had stuck it's head through the fence and Mr. Weenie just grabbed and then went on his merry way, dead duck behind him, just that quick.
That would be the Dachshund. Don't trust them alone around small animals.

Barking isn't a big deal. They will bark when people arrive, or when there are knocks, even if it isn't on the door, and sometimes when there is especially active rough-housing going on with the kids. So teaching a "quiet" command might be a good idea.
But overall, they aren't usually noisy when playing, just when doing "guard dog" impressions.
Just remember when they do bark, it's quite a big dog bark, louder then you might expect.

Also, when we had to place our girl in an outside pen for the first time, she was very noisy. We were rearranging the house and didn't want the pets underfoot. So, crate training might be a small issue depending on how the puppy was raised.

Something you should be aware of is that they might take a bit longer to housebreak. They're smart, but for some reason they seem to take longer on potty training compared to some other dogs. They are average and above on learning tricks, but not going wee wee in the kitchen? Seems to be beyond some of them. I've even watched one walk to the opened door, look outside, and go on the threshold. Then continue outside.
So try to be patient on this issue!

Hello all I was just wondering if anyone could give me any helpful hints about my puppy Roxy ...Adopted her from an animal shelter...her brothers and sisters were all black except for her..they said she was a weimeraner mix but she is extremely tall and heavy she weighs about 37lbs now and she's four months old and stands pretty tall cause of her legs they are extremely long...she is sweet and gentle she has every thing chocolate about her the nose the eyes the pads on her paws everything Help me please I have some posted pictures of her ...

Boglen Terrier or Bogle????

Hi, I am new here! My name is Cara, and my puppy is Milo! My boyfriend and I recently adopted Milo - a 5 month old puppy from a rescue. When we adopted him we were told that he was a Boglen, but I am beginning to wonder. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a Boglen Terrier (Beagle/Boston Terrier) and a Bogle (Beagle/Boxer)? I have looked at pictures of both on the internet and find that they both look a lot alike, but in any of the descriptions of the Boglen Terrier, the full-grown weight doesn't seem to exceed the 20lb range. Milo had passed 20lbs by 5 months, and I would say is probably 30 lbs or so now - at 8 months. And I see boxer in him... but then again, that could be because I am looking for it. Are there any characteristics in particular to look for - physical or otherwise - to tell the difference??

Dyson and Ruby

Hello I am Ally and have Ruby a 2 year old chocolate Labradoodle f1 and Dyson a 20 month old Goldendoodle. We live near the sea on the English south coast where we can be found every afternoon walking the dogs. Ruby is our first doodle and we recently got Dyson - named after the hoover, as he failed as a trainee assistance dog. He is also fab and they get on so well, it's like he's always been here.

Reply: Well, we were very lucky as Dyson was brought into the house; Ruby sniffed him, he reciprocated and that was it. She tried to "hump" him and that was it.... friends forever. They love each other; play together, sleep together and life is just great. We expected a few teething problems but have been extremely lucky. Good luck with your new furbaby xx

Hi,

I'm new to designer mixes as I've always owned dachsies. In April of this year I had my 14 year old dachsie put to sleep after a massive stroke. At that point I said I was not going to get a new dog for a while. However, after spending time in NYC on vacation and seeing all the dogs I knew I needed one.

My cousin's dog had puppies back in June which were a mix of Min Pin and Pom so when I returned from vacation I reserved the last of the puppies as they were only 4 weeks old. As much as I hate to admit it the puppy is now home with me. My idiot cousin decided she didn't want them around any more so it was take her or she goes to someone else - I took her.

Her name is DanielA - Danni for short. And she's the best puppy ever. She found her bark yesterday and is a playing dynamo as of this AM. My one cat won't have anything to do with her, but the other says she's OK.

Sorry this is so long but I love my little girl.

Hey all

I'm Amanda and I'm getting a Frenscher (or French Pin as it is known in the USA) soon. It is a cross between a French Bulldog and a Min Pin... She is sooo cute and I can't wait to get her :-) I told this site about her as a designer breed- I thought the name Frenscher was better than French Pin :-)

I live in Germany with my husband who is in the Army (we are British) and our children.

I will add her to the site and also upload pics. I have only found this cross on one other site and it was called a French Pin but I think Frenscher sounds much better, lol

Hello everyone! I just joined and uploaded our 2 boys. Jack-Jack is a pug and staffordshire terrier mix and Dash is a Lab/Boxer mix. They are still puppies (Dash just had his first birthday and Jack-Jack is 4 mos old) but are such joys. They love each other very much.

I have a chipoo and a cockapoo. Both good dogs.
Edward (Chipoo) is almost 6 mo. and Kipper is 9 yrs.
Kipper is finally getting used to having a "baby" in the
house. I wouldn't say he's crazy about it, but , warming up a bit.
Hopefully, they'll be good friends soon!

Our wee Jackweiller!!

Hi new to this

Im Donna mum to Cracker the jackweiller!!

His Mum was a (large) rottweiller and his dad was a (small) jack russel!!! if you can believe it

He gets his name because he was born at Christmas, he has one sister called Tinsel (she has another mum & dad)

He is two and a half years old and loves nothing better than running around the garden chasing the water hose or chasing his big large yellow bucket, other than that he can usually be found lying on the back of our sofa watching the world go by!!

He has a girlfriend called Misty (she is a Lasa Apso) he usually stands on his two hind feet to peer in her livingroom window, its like Romeo & Juliet!

Any way I will post pics and more info soon

Mulder my new Chipoo

I've been here for about a month and just wandered into this area.

I adpoted my Chipoo from my local shelter after I lost my black lab, Scully. Mulder stole my heart from the moment I saw him. After having a big dog for 9 years I wasn't sure what to do with a small dog, but Mulder has shown me that I don't have to do anything but love him.

Mulder was just shy of 7 months old when I got him. His former owner provided all his shot info and breed info when they surrendered him. I have no idea why he was given up, but I'm glad that he came to live with me. The shelter told me that he was not leash trained and not socailized. They said that he was scared of cats and many other things. They would only adopt him out to someone who could work with him on these issues. I have yet to see any of these problems. He is great on a leash and he is very social with other dogs. He is not scared of my cats at all. He is very cautious about things, but not fearful. My only problem was finding breed info about the Chipoo when I started researching. That's how I found this site.

I am finding that Mulder is very smart and energetic. He loves to take walks and to play with everyone and everything. He wants to play with my 2 cats, but the one was recently diagnosed with diabetes and he wants nothing to do with Mulder. The other one will chase Mulder around the house and Mulder loves every minute of it.

After a very rough year with all my geratric animals, Mulder has brought a ray of sunshine into my life.

Reply: Thanks! Mulder's main problem right now is he loves to jump at peoples faces to play or greet them. I'm getting ready to move in with my fiancee who has a 4 year old boy and I'm working hard with Mulder on this. He's learning quickly, but sometimes he forgets.

He's also taken to walking around the deck on his hind legs while I'm grilling. It's so adorable. He's really a characher.
