i watched the movie Hachi this weekend, it was such an amazing tell. The story really happened in Japan but in the movie it took place in America. A professor finds an akita and the dog waits on him everyday at the train station to come home, one day the professor died. The dog Hachi spent the next nine years of his life waiting on his master to come home. He would wait all day infront of the station. In Japan in Tokyo square there is a statue honoring the dogs memory. It was a moving tale of true friend ship. In my opinion dogs possess a greater ability to love than we could ever obtain. Dogs love honestly and expect nothing in return, they protect and seek nothing but our approval, if only we weak minded humans could love and express compassion like a dog does I think the world would be a better place. I think our friends Boo and the super fast lurcher would love this film as well.

Hi Coconut

Nice to see you have mentioned my dogs.
You are correct. Boo would watch the movie Hachi with great interest I am sure. I haven't heard of it, but will look out for it. Millie my lurcher doesn't look at the TV at all, or react to any noise from it, even if dogs are barking. Boo however is, as I have told you before, very interested in practically anything on TV. My screensaver on the pc is of my dogs and she always wags her tail at Millie and my 18 year old Tigger, another lurcher who sadly passed away last year, but strangely she growls at photos of herself or seeing herself in a mirror. I don't know why that should be, nor do I know why some dogs love TV and others are completely unaware of it.

There is a similar story to Hachi about a very famous little terrier, I cannot remember his name. He was I think a Skye Terrier, a Scottish farm dog and he lived there many years ago. He lay on his owner's grave for 16 years. He was so faithful he would not leave his master, even through the winter is very harsh in Scotland. People who lived locally came to feed him. A statue was also erected there. A movie was being made him about two years ago by an American and he brought the dog who played the part of .....? over to Crufts, the famous Kennel Club show in England. But I have never heard any more about the movie. Boo's favourite dog movie is "Eight Below" about a team of huskies and malamutes, which had to be abandoned in Antarctica, and it was about six months before the handler could get back to rescue them. It was also based on a true story.

I wonder if Coco watches TV with you. I look after a labrador for my granddaughter one day every week and she reacts to TV.
