Invisible Fence Training

by elvisandmojo on 7/23/2010 at 2:17 PM in Training

We finally broke down and bought the invisible fence on line and installed it last weekend. I stupidly didn't check the setting on the collars which is adjustable (5 levels) and we ended up shocking Elvis and Mojo silly. Now I have them turned to beep and flash only but they are still not keen on wearing the collars.

Last night I put the collars on and did not lead them on their leashes. We just played golf and walked many laps around the house to try and assure them that we have OK places that they have to get used to. I am going to repeat this tonight. It is almost pathetic how docile they act when wearing the collars but am preferring this to their running off.

This is going to be a long process!

my banddog is all in all a loving male dog, theres alot of other male dogs in our area... for some reason theres this one and only male huskymix that he knocks heads with.only a trailer space away from us they run back and forth front and back all day... (the maledog on right next on opp. side never bothers him dont even give a look) every now and then hell barge past who ever is entering or exiting, goses right for that husky... its to the point hes figured out how to get in the yard, and im worried its already hard enough to get him away and back in the yard. whats your suggestion?

You may want to look into the wireless tranmitter and collar system. That emits a radius that you might be able to set. http://www.petsafe.net/Products/Fencing/Wireless-Fences/Wireless-Containment-System is the sight I recommend. Prices are in line with others and they are very informative.
