Lacey's Other Knee

by sands904 on 3/20/2011 at 9:29 AM in Lacey

I haven't written in a while as things have been crazy around here. Unfortunately, this is not a more happy post but Lacey has been limping more and more on her right knee. For those of you who have not read her previous posts she has already had surgery on her left knee for a luxating patella back in 2007. At that time they told us there may be a chance that the right knee would need to be operated on also. We hoped that day would never come...

Well, it is here. She has been picking up that leg more and more when she is running, etc. We took her into the vet on Thursday and her knee was totally out of place. We took her home watched her and thought about it. I just emailed our vet this morning and she already got back to me saying surgery is Lacey's best option. I am waiting for her to reply again but we are hoping to get a referral to the place that did her first surgery.

I will keep you all posted and begin writing much more often again. I just realized how much I wrote about her first knee surgery and it was great to have that log to look back on!!

Lacey's Tooth

by sands904 on 4/28/2008 at 7:54 PM in Lacey

Yesterday we took Lacey and Logan for a walk. My husband was wearing his big steel toe work boots (not sure why :). While Lacey was walking she walked a little too close and he bumped her in the mouth with his foot. It didn't seem that hard at the time. She didn't make any noise or act like she was in pain. Later that night I heard her chewing on something and went to see what it was. It appeared to be one of her teeth. I took it from her and looked around in her mouth. Yep, she was missing one of her middle teeth on the left side of her mouth, the opposite side she would have been bumped on during the walk. We had also given her a new kind of dental treat earlier in the day. I don't know if either one of these is the reason her tooth fell out or if they are completely unrelated. I have never experienced anything like this. I don't know if we should take her into the vet to haver her teeth examined. There isn't really anything they can do about the tooth she already lost, but I am worried. Her teeth just shouldn't be falling out like that...
