Bruno

I wanted a guard dog and was interested in a Mastiff breed. I went to our local shelter (no kill) and lone and behold one of the volunteers at the shelter told me about a mastador breed and that they have 2 puppies left. They were rescued from an illegal breeder in Bakersfield. I went to see the puppies and immediately wanted to take them home but i could take only take. I choose the smallest of the two and named him Bruno. He was 10 weeks old, 25 lbs., took him home and he settled in right away. He is almost 2 years old, weighs over 100 lbs., and is a sweet, smart, loveable dog. Bruno sleeps with me in my bed since he was just a puppy but not he takes up most of the bed. He loves going to the beach and long walks. I think the blend of Labrador (playful) and Mastiff (protective) are a good mix. I love my Bruno!

Roxy Girl

We had a purebred lab and went to the store to get dog food, and of course it was adoption day! My husband immediately fell in love with the size of her PAWS (their HUGE). We walked out of the store with a lot more than dog food that day. Roxy is a wonderful dog, it is very sad to think that she was about to be euthanized :o( Kolt (our lab) immediately took to her, she is so loving and playful. I honestly don't think she has a mean bone in that body of hers. She took very well to training. Her only problem is that even with a 2 acre yard and Invisible Fence, she still tends to wander!!! The jolt from the fence does not faze her one bit!! The ONLY time I have ever heard her bark is if her and Kolt are playing around, or when the coyotes howl at night. We love her to death and are so glad she is a part of our family!

My Mastador

Rufus is about 16months old now, He showed up on our property when he was 7 months old weighing 70lbs now he weighs almost 200lbs. He sneezes when he lays upside down and he is a total mommy's boy. We go for walks several times aday and he is best friends with our cat Regal. He has seperation anxiety and will chew up stuff if I don't keep him away from my stuff. He minds very well and is scared of bugs that crawl but will eat a moth if it is flying. He is totally black with only a few hairs of white on his right shoulder and the mowhawk down his back. He has very expressive brown/gold eyes and he smiles when we wrestle. He only barks when I am working on the laptop for schoolwork (I am in College) and when he thinks that I have not payed attention enough to him. Roofie (that is what I call him) is totally muscle and love, he only has not liked three people so far. My Husband is a dog groomer, so we have a lot of dogs come through and he is nice to them all. He does not bark or grawl but puts his butt up to my legs and walks backwards to get me to back away from who ever it is that he does not like. One night about midnight we were outside and he heard a noise and grawled. I asked him to stop and listened there was a noise accros the street at the car dealer. We went inside and I told my husband. He and I went outside and called the police because there was a person trying to break in to the building. He told us that there was someone there. Roofie loves car rides and thinks that he is to go every time I go outside to leave no matter what time and where I am going. He is a total joy in our lives. He is not just my dog but my son, and acts most the time like a teen-ager.
