I adopted a Spanador...

I adopted a spanador for my fiance right before we got married, mostly because she was the absolute cutest dog in the shelter :) Since then, we've had a slight amount of trouble with chewing (she is only 8 months old now) and hyperactivity. She is quite possibly the most energetic dog I've ever met! She's also one of the most loving dogs I've ever met. We love her to death, despite the toll it's taken on our house. We didn't have any trouble at all with house training. She's a very smart dog, she learned to sit within two days. That's about all I can share with you. I'd recommend a spanador to any family, small kids or big kids, maybe not an older couple. Be ready for a fireball!

I bought a little Fourche Terrier

I bought a little Fourche Terrier in March of 2007 when he was 11 weeks old. He's a black brindle with white toes on all four feet, a white chest, and a white beard. The only troubles I've had with him medically are skin troubles, but the breeder said none of the other puppies in the litter have had similar problems. My vet diagnosed him with puritis and it's something that does need constant care, but he is more than worth it. He is extremely intelligent and very protective over his people. He can be a bit stubborn at times, but I really love him with all my heart. Since having him his coloration has lightened a lot. I've heard of yorkies turning blue/silver with age, and I'm wondering if that's why his fur is lightening even through winter. I would highly recommend owning a fourche terrier. I had a difficult time finding anyone who breeds them, but finally did and was very happy with the service provided by the breeder (doublejkennel). They are hardy, fun little dogs that are perfect for people with allergies to dogs (myself included).

My Little Angel

About 4 years ago we bought a Jack-A-Poo puppy from a flea market we were at. He was so adorable I couldn't resist him. I had never heard of a Jack-A-Poo before, but it didn't matter, it was love at first sight.

We had 2 other dogs at home, but he was our baby. He was so special. He was the best dog you could ever ask for. He was more than a dog, he really was like a person. We loved him so much.

He was only 4 years old. Then last Friday (1/2/09), he wasn't feeling too good. When we took him out, he collapsed. We rushed him to the emergency vet. At first they thought he had pancreitis (sp?) but as they did more test they found he had a very rare auto immune disorder that was attacking his red blood cells. They gave him a blood transfusion hoping to build his red blood cells up. But it didn't work. We were faced with the decision to take his life. On Monday we made that hardest decision that anyone has to make.

I am writing this because I am wondering if anyone else has ever had this. Is it something that runs in this breed or is it just 1 in a million that this happened to him.

If anyone has any information, please let me know. I hope someday to get another one, but for now my heart is broken with the loss of my little angel.

He's the best!

I too own a Chipoo and he is by far the best dog I have ever known. I got him when he turned six weeks and he had already been potty trained. Talk about a relief I didn't have to do anything he would bark at night to let me know when he had to go. The previous owners said he was very easy to train and I can believe it. He is one of the smartest dogs I have ever known. He does like to bark alot but it is in fun, except to my neighbor. He will growl at him and doesn't like him one bit but has never tried to go after him. He is alot of fun to have around. Even my husband likes him and he was not a dog person at all but to have a dog who is as smart and loving as him how could anyone resist. I would recommend this type of dog if you are looking for something low maintenance or looking to just have some companion. I love my little man and I wouldn't trade him for anything. He is a part of my life and all my children love him. He's the best.

My Bella

I rescue Bella from Reno SPCA on 11/22/08. She is only 13 weeks old. She is husky/golden mix. I lost my 1st dog on 10/31/08 to Cancer. Her name is Goldie. She is 11yrs old. While in mourning I decided to get another companion. I have a cat and he is affectionate but I miss having a dog. So with the help of Goldie, she pick Bella. There were nine in her litter (7 males and 2 females)When I visited the place where the litters are and went in, the puppies are all over me and nipping my finger plus barking at the same time. But Bella was at the corner just sitting there and watching us that's when I notice her and called her to come. Boy, she came to me and lick my hand then she goes back to the corner and sit. I picked her up and did the puppy test. She passed. The test I did is: I picked her up, put her in a submission position in my arms, press all her paw lightly, open her mouth, check her ears and she just stays still. So I took her home. She doing good in Crate training and walking. She knows sit, shake hand and speak. there will be many more training to come and with the help of Goldie's spirit we will succeed.

Poogles are the Best!

I have the sweetest dog ever, my poogle, Chica is now 3 years old. She is very smart, submissive, loving, cuddly, and loyal. Her favorite things are going on walks, playing at dog park, cuddling close for naps, learning tricks and getting treats. She is tan and white with a freckled underbelly. Her hair is kind of long and curls, and she does shed a little. She hates thunder, baths, and getting her nails clipped. She learns so fast, she is a therapy dog and we go to nursing homes and the hospital every month. We often look for other poogles but can never find any. Let me know if there are other poogle lovers out there!
