Pip's Story & Details
Pip is a real charachter! We got him originally as a friend for our 7 year old Staff/Daschund cross as she was getting tired and we thought it a good idea to get her a companion.
We saw several dogs at the local kennels, but the ones we liked and thought suitable for us and our dog were already reserved for homes. The people at the kennels showed us a tiny little puppy and at first I had my reservations, but my partner Chris fell in love with him immediately, so we decided to go for it. 2 days later we were picking him up and bringing him home for the first time. It was such an exciting time for us. He was the sweetest little thing, and we couldnt believe that he had been abandoned by his previou owners, he was only 15 weeks old.
It took us all a long time to get used to having a puppy. He was very slow at learning the training - from toilet training to eating, to listening to us.
He really has developed into a little star though, although he has a VERY naughty streak in him, you cannot help it but love him to bits. He has an overshot lower jaw, so he does have the funniest looking face.
He loves cuddles, and will let you cradle him like a baby. He plays beautifully with his sister. She loves to clean him, especially when we are all cuddled up on the sofa of an evening, she will clean his eyes, teeth and ears. He will do the same back to her. He is a loving little chap, he soes have some issues though. He still gets us up several times during the night to go to the toilet, but we count ourselves lucky that he does that rather than mess in the house (it took us until he was 6 months old to stop him messing in the house). He has severe separation anxiety, even if we are still in the house, maybe in the kitchen while he is in the den and he will cry and cry for us and come looking for us.
We never knew what happened with his previous owners, but I think he had a bad time as a tiny puppy.
He is very friendly, loves other dogs and goes crazy around them and always wants to play. To the point where we have to keep him on a leash otherwise he will run to other dogs and not come back (he has very selective hearing).
We are both hoping that he will lose his bad habits as he ages, although we understand that it is these things that makes him the little bugger that he is.
