Milo's Story & Details
I got Milo for my daughter Rachel in 2007 when he was 3.5 months old. He was an affectionate puppy when we first saw him and he suckered us into to taking him home after we first held him. He was cute but people would tell us that he looked like a "baby sloth" in the beginning. Poor thing...but he was so affectionate and smart we didn't care.

Milo is a brindle Shih Tzu/Pomeranian mix (Shiranian). His coat was initally blackish gray on top with a light brownish gray thick undercoat until his full adult coat came in. He has the Pomeranian snout and fur but has Shih Tzu ears and corkscrew tail. The tip of his ears and very end of his tail look like someone dipped then in black ink. The fur on his ears even look like the fur was crimped with a crimping iron. If you ask me, Milo looks like an Ewok from Star Wars now - only way I can describe him.

He is not a barker and is very patient. He is totally attached to my daughter and they are always playing. It's a joke on out block about us calling ALL of his toys his "turtles". He only relates to his stuffed animals if we tell him to "get your turtle". It's pretty funny. He has his doggie friends in the neighborhood; and if you say any of their names he gets all excited and looks for them. Another thing that is funny, when he is in aplayfull mood or gets excited over something, his fur fluffs out and gets really big. You always know when he wants to play.
One thing, though, he is very stubborn and persistent if he gets one thing on his mind. He will not leave you alone until you play or give him his food.

One side note: Milo had many episodes with chronic diarrhea this year, where he was sick for almost 2 months. We tried everything but finally had to put him on prescription high fiber dog food. The vet said he has irritable bowel syndrome - he can not eat any regular dog food or treats that you would normally give to your dog. But he can eat cheese, bread, rice, chicken from time to time without any symptoms. If he has too much, then he gets sick. Anyway, we have it under control as long as he eats his prescription food. I would be interested to hear anyone else who has a Shiranian who may have had the same issue with their dog.

Anyway, he is great to have around.
