Zena's Story & Details
We rescued Zena from St. Charles Pet Adoption center on February 6th of 2010. She was 2 months old and was the only female of the pups and unfortunately was the runt. All of her brothers had been adopted except for her. I loved her the minute I saw her but my husband did not. We got her anyway and its been exciting. My husband wasn't so sure about her though. The training began as soon as she came home. She was on a potty schedule and her food and water was put up 2 hours before we went to sleep. She was potty trained in 4 days, thats when my husband started to come around. But between 3 months - 7 months of age we had to beg her to bark, she never would, and to this day she has barked maybe 5 times, and she spent 99.9% of her time destroying everything including 8 phone chargers, our wooden bed frame, a TV, and a DVD player. We were at our wits end but we kept working on it with her and found the problem was separation anxiety. So she stayed in her kennel while we were gone and that fixed the problem. She has also been battling a skin irritation problem along with ear infections and we have yet to figure out what exactly it is she is allergic to. She is now 1 year and 3 months old and loving life! My husband takes her on runs daily which has helped the separation anxiety, but not enough to keep her out of her kennel for 8 hours while we are working. We have no children yet so she is an only child. She is my pride and joy, she is my doghter.
