Small Dog

I received my little pixie at the end of August. You hear so many negitive things about small dogs health and temper. Pixie is very healthy, and playful and cuddles any chance she gets!!! She only barks in play, still trying to teach her to bark to go outside. She goes to the door. She is very smart and very eager to please.

Titan the Borador

My great uncle has a Borador, named Titan. He knows more tricks than we can remember (at one time). Titan is an active, happy dog. He follows my uncle ,Johnny, all around, and waits until Johnny leaves the house before he wastes time eating. He lets my little sister pull his ears and tail, and doesn't even dare to growl. He is a great dog.

Havapekes

Havapekes are very social and love to romp and play, they make great house pets for the young and elderly. They get along with other dogs really great also..They are very inteligent and easily house trained...Havapekes is created by crossing the purebred Havanese with the purebred Pekingese. It is considered a hybrid dog, meaning it is not purebred, however the lineage is known. Where as the term mutt is used when a dog has an unknown lineage.

Some claim hybrid dogs are healthier, because you are mixing up the gene pool. Many breeders of hybrids believe in what is called the heterosis effect and hybrid vigor. Vigor means, "Physical or mental strength, force or energy."

We just got a Cavachon

We just got a Cavachon in August of 2010. He is the cutest dog. He is very playful and loves his family very much. Ours is named Cozmo. The day we got him, we also got another puppy which is a border collie and lab mix. Her name is Lizzy.

They play together, roll and tumble. It is a riot to watch them. It makes it hard to get any work done cause they are just so much fun. Cavachons are great pets. I want another one already! I definitely recommend this dog for families.

They have a very sweet personality. The only thing I can say negative about Cozmo is he operates on Cozie time...he comes when HE is ready...But we're working on that!

Aggression & Training

We had a Beabull in our home from the time he was only 8 weeks old. He was a year old last month and we had to re-home him due to an unusual aggression toward me. At first, our dog was gentle, cuddled, playful, etc. and never hurt our other 2 dogs. He loved to wrestle and play. We trained him to obey commands but his stubborn streak got worse as he got older. We had not had him neutered yet and he was becoming increasingly aggressive about asserting his dominance. He would put his feet on the counters in the kitchen when we were not looking and chew up anything he could reach. He had toys all over the house. He had a big yard to run in. He was not a bored dog. He was a very smart dog. We taught him to "trade" when he’d take something we did not want him to have. He'd put down the item and get rewarded with a treat. One day, he stole a chicken bone off the table. I tried to do the "trade" with him and he dropped the bone. As soon as he had the treat, he reached up and grabbed my arm in his mouth. I yelled at him to release me and he grabbed the other arm in his jaws. I screamed but he would not release. I ripped my arm from his mouth and he had pierced a vein in my arm. Blood was everywhere. After being on a 10-day in-home quarantine, we were able to find him a home with a man that had an English Bulldog and was fully aware of the biting incident. This man has been working with him for 2 weeks now and says that 3 walks a day seems to wear him out. He has a lot of energy. I would NOT recommend this dog around children, disabled people or weak people. My husband is disabled and hated this dog due to his dominance control issues. He was not easy to train at all. We’ve been dog owners for YEARS and have wonderful success with our other pets. In fact, our little rat terrier used to always hide from our Beabull. Now, our rat terrier is finally happy again.

* Note: We at DesignerMixes.org do not believe in blaming all behavioral issues on dominance. If your dog is having behavioral issues please contact a certified Positive Reinforcement trainer. Aggression is not something to be taken lightly.
